Myth busters & campaigns
Don’t you think it’s about time the face of the administration industry changed and developed further? As assistant’s we’re all chomping at the bit to develop and grow ourselves, but when there isn’t much to strive for it leaves us stunted, with no where to go but sideways. With still so many negative stereotypes associated with the EA/PA role today, I’ve created a movement that I encourage you to join and get on board to debunk these myths, influence others and become trailblazers of change to improve the perception of the EA role and the value we truly add.
How many times have you been asked what you do for a living and you find yourself saying, ‘Oh I’m just an assistant’, or worse still you get described by your colleagues as being ‘just the admin person’. The fact of the matter is though, there is nothing ‘just’ about what we do! And moreover, aren’t we so much more than just assistants?! We do so much more than just provide ‘assistance’, yet with limited roles to develop through in our industry and with all our titles using that superfluous word ‘assistants’, I’m on the campaign to have a new role added to our structure – the ‘Business Partner’! Let’s give the more senior EA’s a step up to a more superior role, with a title that actually reflects what they do and give those that are growing through their careers something to actually strive for.

Commit to re-educating our friends, family and colleagues on what we really do and help to bring some change to our industry! Lastly consider your own presence and how you’re perceived. Let’s all lead by example – if you want to be taken seriously, then act seriously.
